J'ai appris que Davis avait un site météo réservé aux possesseurs du logiciel WeatherLink (c'est un peu le logiciel obligatoire chez Davis!) : http://www.weatherlink.com/newWLNSaccount.php

Quel est l'intérêt de s'inscrire à ce type de site?

Est-ce payant (apparemment non pour la version WeatherLink IP)?

L'intérêt est tout simplement qu'avec un datalogger IP les données sont transmises vers le site(via la box) et peuvent être récupérées par StatIC sans avoir l'obligation d'avoir un PC en permanence allumé.

How does WeatherLinkIP work?We have created WeatherLinkIP to work with our www.weatherlink.com site, which is maintained by Davis Instruments. Simply plug the WeatherLinkIP data logger into the back of your Vantage Pro console, Vantage Pro2 console, Vantage Vue console or Weather Envoy and connect to your cable or DSL router/hub. Please note: A router or hub and internet service is required for the proper operation of this product.

A PC is not required for data upload, however, it is required to view your weather online. Once you register online, you'll be able to see all your data. It's that simple.

Note: When you plug in your WeatherLinkIP data logger to your cable/DSL router and your console/Envoy, it instantly starts uploading data to www.weatherlink.com—without you doing anything else. Leave the data logger plugged in to your console or Envoy and it will upload to your account on www.weatherlink.com automatically. You'll need to register/login to your account to see the data.

I'm using WeatherLink with the USB connection. At times I lose communication with the PC software.

This is caused by electrical noise introduced into the USB port on the PC. Solutions are:

1. Eliminate the source of the noise (paper shredder, fan, etc.).
2. Do not use an AC adapter on your Vantage Pro console. Most noise is picked up on the AC adapter cable. Eliminating the adapter can prevent the entry point for the noise. The console's three C batteries can last up to one year and you will receive a message on the console when they start to get low.
3. Attach a ferrite cylinder on the AC adapter cable to help filter out the noise. These can be purchased at many electronic supply stores. Digikey's (www.digikey.com) part #240-2245-ND works well.
